Brendon at an exhibition of his work in Brazil in 2025
Brendon Reis (Salvador, 1996) is a self-taught visual artist based in São Paulo, Brazil.
We are honored to partner with One Contemporary Gallery in Atlanta be to show Brendon's work at a solo exhibition during the Atlanta Art Fair from October 1-4, 2026.
His painting practice is driven by the imagery of black identity through the concepts of the natural and the surreal. It explores the contradictory dilemmas of human existence, such as perception and image, the ordinary and the spectacular. Focusing on portraits of Black figures in dark and blue tones, the artist connects the concepts of identity, body, affection, and duality.
In the last few years he has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in Brazil, including "Raízes" (Roots) at the National Museum of Afro-Brazilian Culture (MUNCAB), "Protagonists" at the National Museum of Fine Arts, and "Afrobrasilidades" at FGV Arte. His solo exhibitions include "Píer" in 2023 (Galeria Inox, Rio de Janeiro) and "Querência" (Queerness) in 2024 (Galeria Inox, Rio de Janeiro).
His work is in hundreds of private collections in Brazil and around the world, including the US, France, UK and Switzerland.
His art is in the permanent collections of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro Brazil and the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre Brazil.
